Infratech, makers of infrared heaters for outdoor applications, recently profiled Kurt as a part of their Visionaries series. The series highlights innovative ways that architects and designers are using the product to bring “indoor comfort for every outdoor living space,” as their motto goes. Kurt discussed three projects where he used the low-profile, inset heaters.

Las Canoas

For the Las Canoas project, we were turning what was unusable hillside into an expansive oasis of outdoor entertaining and enjoyment. A zero edge and infinity edge pool blurs the lines between earth and the heavens. Cliffside, enjoy a chat around the firepit. Or snooze away the afternoon relaxing in a hammock on the covered dining patio. In this home, a system of telescoping doors recessed directly into the walls opening the inside out. The Intratech heaters were installed on the covered patio at the juncture where the doors open to the outside.

Sunset Pacific Palisades

Kurt designed an intimate outdoor dining space, poolside, for the Sunset Pacific Palisades project. Our unique metal rail pergola brings high-end modern detailing to space. By installing the Infratech heaters, we were able to make the space usable for all seasons.
